MoMA Rising Currents Open House! Last Chance!

jan 9, 2010

Studios will be open from 2:00 to 6:00 PM
Presentation and public Q&A session will take place from 3:00 to 4:30 PM

The SCAPE Rising Currents Team would like to invite you to join us at PS 1's "Saturday Session" this Saturday January 9th. Over the past 2 months we have been developing a new "oyster-tastic" vision for the Gowanus Canal and the Bay Ridge Flats off the coast of Redhook which we hope we can share and discuss with you. Our studio doors will be open to all and KATE ORFF along with all of the other team leaders will be making presentations about the exciting visions for the future of New York's waterfront developed during MoMA's Rising Currents Workshop. Our studio will be open from 2-6 PM and the presentations will take place in the gallery across from the cafeteria starting at 3 PM.

This Saturday January 9 from 2 PM to 6 PM, is the last opportunity for the public to visit the Rising Currents architect-in-residence studios at P.S.1. As part of P.S.1 Saturday Sessions, the five teams will open their studios to the public and be available to discuss their work. A presentation by Barry Bergdoll, The Philip Johnson Chief Curator of Architecture and Design and the five team leaders will take place from 3:00 PM-4:30 PM in the Paintings Gallery. Organized by The Museum of Modern Art in cooperation with P.S.1, Rising Currents includes an eight week residency for teams of architects and designers at P.S.1 this fall and winter, followed by an exhibition at MoMA next spring (opening March 24, 2010). The residency at P.S.1 is part of Free Space, a new project with artists and nonprofit arts institutions in which P.S.1 provides collaborative use of its gallery space for events, rehearsals, and other live presentations.
