SAFARI 7 receives ASLA Award

SAFARI 7, New York City
Urban Landscape Lab + MTWTF

Landscape Architecture Magazine / Aug. 2010 / Volume 100

SAFARI 7 is a self-guided tour of urban animal life along New York City's No.7 subway line, which runs from Manhattan's dense core, under the East River, and through neighborhoods and park lands before terminating in Queens. SAFARI 7 broadcasts maps and podcasts that reveal the complex biodiversity along this route. Using new media (podcasts synchronized to train stops, YouTube, Facebook, and a web site) and old (signage, maps, brochures, guided walks, and large-scale drawings), the outreach turns train cars into mobile classroom.
