Mount Sinai Residential Tower
New York, NY
The Mount Sinai Residential Tower is located in Manhattan’s historic Upper East Side. As part of the Mount Sinai Medical Campus, this small site is nestled within existing medical facilities and a new medical research facility.
In collaboration with Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects and SLCE Architects inspiration was drawn from nearby Central Park. The ‘Ramble’ served as an important precedent in establishing the plant palette of an urban-woodland. Additionally, this parcel serves as its own multi-purposed garden in the tradition of New York City’s iconic vest-pocket parks. A key component of this garden is the screen wall; a dual-sided and patterned bronze structure that defines the site boundaries and screens utilities. While providing visual interest to the Residential Tower the screen wall also serves an adjacent property under the same ownership.
Also, a terrace greenroof has been designed for the 10th floor amenities terrace. With views overlooking Central Park, the terrace serves as a respite for tenants enjoying the recreational facilities.
