The Pave Academy is a K-8 Charter School in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn that provides a rigorous academic program and vibrant community built on the ideals of perseverance, achievement and excellent character.  SCAPE is currently in concept design for two publically accessible landscape areas for a new school building by Mitchell Giurgola with Civic Builders. The first of the two open spaces includes a ‘front door’ to the school with a semi-transparent edge that provides both protection and accessibility and will be utilized as an after recess space for the school. A backyard area continues the design language into a more private space. SCAPE provided three design scheme options for this project and is working in close collaboration with the client to achieve a swiftly constructable landscape with pocket program areas and free play zones for differing age groups and uses.
