This proposal for Town Branch Park builds upon the extensive research, analysis, and design already undertaken as part of the Town Branch Commons project and slated for contruction beginning in late 2018. The site selected for Town Branch Park presents an exciting opportunity to reveal and restore Town Branch creek, creating a new large-scale open green space within downtown Lexington.

The concept design for Town Branch Park proposes to daylight the water of Town Branch Creek, using the restored stream bed to organize a series of highly programmed recreational
and ecological destination spaces. In addition to providing new amenities for downtown residents and visitors to Lexington, Town Branch Park will build upon the identity of the city as a place that celebrates civic values and active community networks. The park site provides a crucial link between signature trail networks through and around downtown Lexington- the Town Branch Greenway, the Town Branch Trail, and the Legacy Trail. Town Branch Park will serve as a major hub within that network, connecting regional open space with the urban core and truly bringing a piece of bluegrass downtown.
