SCAPE collaborated with Langan Engineering on this signature new waterfront park along the Hudson River on the New Jersey shore, developing a concept design which includes ‘get-downs,’ open lawns and gardens on higher ground. The project responds to the environmental, historical and recreational issues of the property, revealing the movement of goods and cargo on the Morris Canal’s Little Basin and the historic migrations of people through nearby Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. The sensitive approach to preservation and ecologically-based engineering interpret and magnify this history while reconnecting New Jersey to its waterfront.
