WIRED article on Social Infrastructure in Living Breakwaters

SCAPE’s Living Breakwaters Project was featured in a recent WIRED article on the importance of social infrastructure in the effort to fortify against future natural disasters. As one of the winning designs of the Rebuild by Design competition, the Living Breakwaters project’s threefold approach combines community engagement with ecological enhancements and risk reduction. The community engagement component —including educational programs, stewardship activities, monitoring efforts and more—becomes essential to the project by bringing people together to work towards the goal of a more resilient future.
