SCAPE Featured in PBS’ Sinking Cities Series

Oct 25, 2018

SCAPE is thrilled to announce our participation in PBS’ Sinking Cities series, which explores how four global cities are coming to grips with the real-time effects of rising seas and extreme weather. Through the stories of New York, Tokyo, London and Miami, Sinking Cities presents an urgent and eye-opening examination of what may be one of the biggest threats to human survival. Each episode will be available to stream the following day at pbs.org/perilandpromise and on PBS apps.

The series’ New York episode, featuring SCAPE’s Director of Planning and Resilience Pippa Brashear, will premiere on Wednesday, October 31st at 10/9c on PBS. Pippa is the director of our Living Breakwaters project in New York, an example of innovative resilient design that responds to the needs of the Tottenville shoreline in Staten Island. SCAPE has also partnered with several other cities nationally to develop landscape and equity driven approaches to understand climate risk, including Norfolk, Boston, San Francisco, and Atlanta.
