Kate recently published an essay in the new book, Nature and Cities: The Ecological Imperative in Urban Design and Planning. Published by the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, the book features essays from leading international landscape architects, architects, city planners, and urban designers, on integrating nature in cities and urban infrastructure to make them green, sustainable, and resilient.
Kate’s essay, “Gardening the Bay: Participatory Frameworks for Ecological and Economic Change,” describes the restoration of oyster reefs in New York Harbor to purify water and create a living breakwater to mitigate sea level rise.
