We’re honored and delighted to share that three SCAPE projects were recognized in the 2023 ASLA-NY Design Awards.
Financial District & Seaport Climate Resilience Master Plan | New York, NY
Honor Award: Analysis & Planning
Proposing a publicly-accessible, multi-level waterfront that seamlessly integrates flood risk reduction infrastructure, the FiDi-Seaport Climate Resilience Master Plan balances multiple needs—structural, ecological, social, economic—threaded into a 21st-century public space prepared for a climate-changed future.
Town Branch Commons | Lexington, KY
Merit Award: General Design
Inspired by the karst geology and Bluegrass landscapes of Central Kentucky, Town Branch Commons is a transformative urban greenway linking downtown Lexington to rural communities in Fayette County along the former path of Town Branch Creek—dramatically expanding the city’s urban tree canopy, green infrastructure, and non-motorized transit.
Alafia | Brooklyn, NY
Merit Award: Community Impact
Just adjacent to Jamaica Bay, Alafia is a Vital Brooklyn initiative bringing over 2,400 affordable apartments to East New York, including dedicated units and supportive services for the formerly homeless, individuals living with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and seniors. Designed around a central six-acre open space, holistic health and wellness is at the heart of the mixed-use development, which includes a community farm, fitness loop, and series of parks and plazas.
Winning projects will be exhibited at the Center for Architecture (AIA-NY) in New York from April 1–30. Congratulations to the design teams, collaborators, and clients behind each of these projects!
