Despo Thoma is an Associate at SCAPE. Trained in architecture and urban design, she manages climate adaptation and resilience planning projects with a focus on visual storytelling and equitable approaches to engagement. She has led large-scale planning and infrastructure projects in New York, Boston, the Bay Area and Southeast Asia.
Despo holds a Master’s in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia University, where she studied as a Fulbright Fellow and was awarded the GSAPP Prize or Excellence in Urban Design. She also holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Architecture from the National Technical University of Athens, and has taught in both the Urban Design program at Columbia and the College of Architecture and Design at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT).
