Petrochemical America featured in Pittsburgh’s SPACE Gallery

Sep 20, 2017

SCAPE is pleased to announce that Petrochemical America is being used as a landscape advocacy tool in Pennsylvania. Curated by Sophie Riedel, the exhibit positions Petrochemical America and its impacts on the southern Louisiana landscape in relation to emerging regional debates of fracking, pipeline building, and the construction of new petrochemical facilities in Western Pennsylvania. With recent catastrophic hurricanes and storms, the vulnerabilities, and social and ecological risks of petrochemical expansion and our dependence upon fossil fuels have never been more clear. The exhibit will open at Pittsburg’s SPACE Gallery from September 27-October 7, after which it will be moved to the Beaver Station Cultural & Event Center in Beaver, PA for a second showing from Oct. 16-20. We encourage you to visit the exhibition and participate in the following events:

September 27 – 5:00 to 8:00 pm: Opening Reception with Wilma Subra

October 4 – 3:30 to 6:00 pm: Regional Visioning Session. Elected officials and the public are invited to a conversation to envision a healthier economic future for our region.
