SCAPE and Studio Gang to Lead Memphis Riverfront Park Redesign

Nov 1, 2018

We are excited to share that SCAPE and Studio Gang have been selected to lead the redesign of the Memphis riverfront from Carolina to Beale Street and from top of the bluff to the riverbank, making Tom Lee Park a new civic signature for Memphis. The new Tom Lee Park will reimagine what’s currently a flat field without shade or amenities into a dynamic and vibrant civic space. The aim is to foster positive encounters and civic pride, restore natural conditions and native ecology and connect the riverfront with downtown. The new park will support diverse programming and active recreation and provide enhanced infrastructure for festivals, such as the annual Memphis in May International Festival.

The park will be the first built project from a 2017 Concept Study by Studio Gang that studied the civic potential of six miles of the riverfront. We’re honored to help transform this important site along the Mississippi River into a vibrant civic space for all Memphians and are looking forward to continuing a legacy of collaboration with Studio Gang to design the architecture and landscape that together realize the new park.
