Living Breakwaters on CNN Business

SCAPE is featured on CNN Business, alongside our longtime collaborators Billion Oyster Project, for our work on restoring the oyster population in New York City. As Kate explains in the interview, “oysters are ecosystem engineers.” SCAPE’s Living Breakwaters project is taking advantage of that concept, creating artificial reefs across two miles of Staten Island’s shoreline in order to foster fish and oyster habitat, and reduce risk and wave action. SCAPE’s oyster restoration work is also being implemented at projects like Red Hoek Point and Sims Pier. See the full CNN clip, here.
