Gena at India’s Annual ISOLA Conference

Feb 25, 2019

Last week, Gena was in Kerala, India for the annual ISOLA (Indian Society of Landscape Architects) conference, where she presented SCAPE’s work and discussed adaptation strategies to climate change and sea level rise. The conference focused on landscape stewardship, identity, and approach, and invited international practitioners to collaborate with ISOLA landscape architects through lectures, workshops, and field visits. She also shared work with students at SCMS, a local technology and engineering school in Kochi. The Kerala landscape – its backwaters, canals, paddies, and robust fishing economy – was a stunning backdrop for the wider global and national issues discussed at the event. Check out our Facebook to see images from the conference lectures and workshops, as well as the Kerala backwater landscape and a featured workshop case study – the Alappuzha canal rejuvenation project.
