Rebuild by Design released their new book TOO BIG. Rebuild by Design’s Transformative Response to Climate Change. Join authors Henk Ovink, Jelte Boeijanga and special guests at 20 Cooper Sq. on March 21st at 5:30PM for the launch. The book recounts the inside story of how the American federal government responded to the destruction that followed Hurricane Sandy hitting the Northeast coast of the United States in late 2012. The authors, together with Rebuild by Design’s key partners, give their firsthand account of building coalitions and creating innovative solutions by running an international design competition in the aftermath of a devastating storm. SCAPE’s Living Breakwaters project, one of the six winning proposals from this global competition, will also be featured in the book. The book offers a guide for politicians, designers, community leaders, researchers, activists and others, by suggesting ways of approaching the climate change–induced, water-related challenges that our cities and landscapes will continue to experience.
